I bought a 28mm lens to photograph interiors. If you’ve ever tried to capture a King’s bedroom with a 50mm lens, you’ll understand the problem.

Because I’ve always thought of a wide angle lens as a tool for interiors, i was surprised to read that many experienced photographers think of 28mm as a good choice for landscapes. OK, I said to myself, I will use it exclusively on our trip through the National Parks on our way to Scottsdale.

Except for the photo at the top of this post. That was taken with a 200mm telephoto. As a former boss used to tell me: ”Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.”

We set off from Seattle intending to waste no time getting to southern Utah.. This meant two 550 mile days; one night in Boise, Idaho and one in Green River, Utah. In the spirit of haste, i took no photos of either.

Next post: Arches National Park.
